IMGW has published a meteorological threat forecast. We will soon enjoy a quiet aura in the picnic – as many as 13 voivodships can cover the warnings on Friday. According to experts, stormy and other dangerous phenomena may form in places.
An expert of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management and the president of the Skywarn Polska Association, Artur Surowiecki, said that on Friday and Saturday there would be an atmospheric front over Poland, which will contribute to stormy phenomena. According to the expert, “storms locally can take forms of supercells with hail precipitation and strong winds.” Storm threat will occur on Saturday, especially in the southern part of the country and on Friday, in the center.
According to him, from Friday to Saturday, “there will be a significant difference between the wind in the lower part of the troposphere near the ground and the winding wind in the central part”, which promotes the formation of dangerous phenomena, such as stormy supercells. “Perhaps one day there will be a plane trumpet locally” – he added and noted that “the probability of such a phenomenon is very low, but you have to be prepared for it, especially on Saturday.”
Surowiecki said that in the process storm Strong wind and rainfall of large hail can pose a threat. There will be heavy rains in places. “Such a cloudburst can occur with strong gusts of wind. Then there may be some local flooding, especially in the southern part of the country,” he noted.

IMGW threat forecast for Friday
Friday will bring a threat to storms. The Meteorology Institute plans to issue first degree warnings in voivodships: West Pomeranian, Pomeranian, Lubuskie, Lower Silesia, Greater Poland, Łódź, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Podlasie (in the west and north of the region), Mazowieckie (east), Świętokrzyskie (in northwestern poviats), Silesian (in the north of the province) and Opole (in the north of the voivodship).
IMGW threat forecast for Saturday
Storms can also appear on Saturday. Yellow alarms should be expected by residents of voivodships: Lesser Poland and Podkarpackie.
