A few days before Christmas and the beginning of winter, thermometers will show as much as 9-10 degrees Celsius. What will the weather be like on Christmas Day and what awaits us on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day? Check the long-term forecast for 16 days.
A long, wide and strong stream of warm Atlantic air rushes into Europe. It now travels thousands of kilometers, carrying ocean heat from the west to the center of the continent – so it works like a huge pump that sucks in air far from where it is transported. This heat rally across Europe runs between the lows that lie in the north and the vast high that stretches to the south. In this situation, most of Europe, including Poland, can forget about winter weather at least for the next few days, until the pressure system over the continent changes. During this time, cooler air, but without major frosts, will reach only Russia and northern Scandinavia (see map).
Weather forecast for 16 days
Ahead of us is a warm start to the week for December, with temperatures up to 10 degrees Celsius. The next days – up to and including Christmas Eve – will be autumn, and the thermometers will range from 1 to 9 degrees. During the holidays it will get a bit cooler – then it will be from 0 to 4 degrees, and at night there will be slight frost. Later, after the holidays, the temperature will rise again and reach 6-7 degrees in the west of the country and 1-2 degrees in eastern Poland. Quite warm, at least not wintery, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are also expected, when it will be up to 5-7 degrees.
The next 16-day temperature forecast is next Sunday.
