On Wednesday (28 August) in Poland it will be sunny and high temperatures will dominate. In almost all regions of the country there will be small and moderate cloudiness. In the south and south-west of the country it may be large in places. In these ends of Poland, the occurrence of passing storms with gusty winds and rainfall up to 15 mm is also forecast.
IMGW issues heat warning. Up to 31 degrees in southern Poland
According to weather forecasters IMWM maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius in the north of the country and around 28-29 degrees in the center, west and east. It will be the hottest in the south and southeast, where thermometers will show even 31 degrees.
From noon to 6 p.m., level II heat warnings will be in effect. They will include:
- southern edges of the Lublin Voivodeship;
- northern areas of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship;
- southern edges of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship;
- northern areas of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship;
- central regions of the Silesian Voivodeship;
- central areas of the Opole Voivodeship.
Weather forecast for the end of the holidays. The heat will not let up
For Thursday (29 August), weather forecasters are predicting light cloudiness, which will gradually increase from the west of the country to moderate and heavy. In this part of the country, there may be occasional storms with gusty winds and rainfall of up to 15 mm. The maximum temperature in the country will again reach 30 to 31 degrees. It will be slightly cooler only in the southern extremities and by the sea, where thermometers will indicate 26 to 29 degrees.
The Institute is forecasting first-degree heat warnings for all parts of the country for this day, except for the central, eastern and northern regions of the Podlaskie province. In these areas, thermometers may indicate a maximum of 30 degrees. At the same time, the temperature may once again reach higher values in southern Poland. Second-degree alerts are forecast for the following provinces: Lublin, Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie, Małopolskie and Śląskie, which means that the temperature there may exceed the threshold of 30 degrees.
Similar weather forecasts are to apply on Friday (August 30). Heatwaves are also forecast for the whole of Poland on that day, with temperatures reaching their highest values in the southern parts of the country. In most parts of the country, thermometers will once again show up to 30 degrees. Lower values will be noticed by residents of coastal areas, where the temperature will remain at 20 degrees.
The weather will change in the last weekend of August. There will be a noticeable cooling
On Saturday (August 31), the weather will start to change and it will become noticeably colder. On Sunday (September 1), sunny weather will continue in many parts of the country, but the values on the thermometers will not exceed 22 to 26 degrees. According to forecasts of meteorologists IMWM the lowest temperature will be felt at the seaside, in the Podkarpacie region and in the eastern Lublin region – from 17 to 21 degrees.

IMGW issued hydrological alerts. “Above warning level”
Hydrological warnings are in force on Wednesday in the Wielkopolska and Lower Silesian provinces. A level II alert was issued for the Barycz River from Polska Woda to the mouth of the Odra. “In the lower reaches of the Barycz, the water level rose to the high water zone, in Osetno above the warning level. A further increase in the water level is predicted during the warning period, in Osetno in the zone above the warning level,” IMGW forecasters report. A level III warning is in force in the Orla catchment area. In connection with the runoff of rainwater, an upward trend is predicted in the high water zone – in Korzeńsk above the alarm level.
