Weather in Poland. Storms are approaching. Where is the storm? IMGW red alerts in five counties

Forecasters warn against dangerous weather phenomena that may occur in Poland on the night from Saturday to Sunday (from 17 to 18 August) and on Sunday. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued new alerts. On Saturday evening, third-degree warnings were announced for five counties.

Where is the storm? IMGW has issued red alerts. Rainfall may reach up to 80 mm

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management informed via Portal Xthat in the areas covered by red alerts “storms are occurring and will continue, accompanied by rainfall of 50-60 mm, in places around 80 mm”. The highest storm warnings apply to the following counties:

  • Zamość (Lublin Voivodeship);
  • Biłgoraj (Lublin Voivodeship);
  • Racibórz (Silesian Voivodeship);
  • Kędzierzyn-Koźle Province (Opole Voivodeship);
  • Głubczyce (Opole Voivodeship).

Second degree warnings regarding storm include counties in the following provinces: Opole, Lower Silesia, Silesia, Świętokrzyskie, Lesser Poland and Podkarpackie. In the remaining part of the country, in some counties, the first level of warning is in force. The alerts will be valid until hours 6 on Sunday.

Weather forecast for Sunday, August 18. Thunderstorms and heat are possible

From the forecasts Institute of Meteorology and Water Management It turns out that the dangerous weather will continue on August 18. During the day, storms and heat are expected. Intense phenomena will occur primarily in the southern, southwestern and central parts of Poland. The maximum temperature will range from 21 degrees Celsius at the seaside to 31 degrees in Rzeszow.
