Despite the fact that it is sunny, numerous dangers await tourists in the mountains. The wind is particularly dangerous, reaching a speed of 130 kilometers per hour in the Karkonosze Mountains and slightly weaker in the Tatra Mountains.
On Saturday, Poland found itself under the influence of the Tino low with its center over Scandinavia. Thanks to it, the morning in many places is sunny, but also windy. This is especially felt in the mountains.

Strong gusts in the Karkonosze Mountains
There has been strong wind in the Karkonosze Mountains since the morning. According to tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Arleta Unton-Pyziołek, by 12 noon the strongest gusts on Śnieżka reached a speed of 130 kilometers per hour. There were also strong winds in other places – in Zgorzelec, gusts reached 61 km/h, and in Jelenia Góra – 50 km/h.
According to the announcement of the Karkonosze GOPR Group, on Saturday in the peak parts of the Karkonosze Mountains the temperature will range from 7 to 15 degrees Celsius during the day. Visibility in the mountains is variable, and GOPR rescuers warn that the trails are wet and slippery in places.
Halny stopped the cable car
Strong wind gusts were also recorded in the Tatra Mountains. By 12 noon, wind gusts reaching 126 km/h were recorded on Kasprowy Wierch.
In Zakopane on Saturday, the thermometers show 20 degrees Celsius, but on Sunday the temperature near Giewont will drop to 3 degrees Celsius, and there will be frost in the evening; snowfall is forecast on the mountain peaks – said IMWM.
As the Tatra National Park warned, branches may fall on the trails and even trees may fall. Hiking in such conditions poses a threat to health and life. There is mud and puddles in the forest sections, and in the higher parts of the Tatra Mountains, especially in the morning and in shaded places, there may be ice.
As Polish Cable Railways warned, due to strong winds, railway traffic to Kasprowy Wierch may be suspended at any time.

Warm but windy in the Beskids
It was sunny and warm in the Beskids on Saturday morning. However, rescuers from the Beskidzka GOPR Group reported that there was a strong, gusty wind that broke branches. They warned that hiking in the mountains could be dangerous.
– It’s very windy in the Beskids. It’s a strong, gusty wind. The branches are breaking. It’s not safe. Temperatures in the mountains in the morning ranged from 10 degrees in Hala Miziowa, through 12 in Klimczok and 13 in Markowe Szczawiny to 16 in Leskowiec. It was 17 degrees in Szczyrk. It was warm and sunny, but the wind is so gusty that tourists may encounter broken trees on the trails – informed the rescuers of the Beskidzka GOPR Group.
