The attack of winter is taking its toll on the inhabitants of Poland, especially Pomerania. Since the morning, firefighters from that region have had their hands full removing fallen branches and trees from the roads. Thousands of households were left without electricity in the afternoon. The water level in the port of Świnoujście is alarming.
In an interview with tvnmeteo.pl, senior brig. M.Sc. Eng. Karol Kierzkowski, press spokesman for the Chief Commander of the State Fire Service, said that by 5:30 p.m., firefighters received 772 reports all over Poland due to snowfall and strong wind. 477 interventions were carried out in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, and 275 in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Volunteers from the Złocieniec Volunteer Fire Department in Drawsko County had their hands full on Saturday. In the afternoon they went to intervene at ul. Pancerniaków, where a tree branch broke under the weight of snow. A branch fell on power lines and started burning. During the day, volunteers also secured a tree that had fallen on a power line on the route between Złocieniec and Siecino.
During the day, volunteers also helped a truck driver remove his vehicle from a railway crossing. Volunteer firefighters were returning from removing a fallen tree from the route between the towns of Stawno and Kranisk. They saw that on the national road 20, at the railway crossing in Złocieniec, there was a truck parked, and its driver had difficulty driving through the crossing due to the snow on the road.
– The semi-trailer was right at the crossing – said one of the guys in a telephone conversation. Volunteers stopped, hooked up the tow truck and helped the man get his truck back on the road.
A few hours after the incident, it turned out that the driver, helped by firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Department, was helping a woman whose car had run off the road and got stuck in a ditch. This event, in turn, took place in the Węgorzyno commune. The driver stopped and helped the woman get the vehicle out. She was not injured.
Thousands of customers without electricity
Due to failures caused by heavy snowfall, approximately 22,000 people are without electricity in the eastern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. recipients.

Dangerous in Świnoujście

The high water level in the port of Świnoujście is expected to continue until Sunday. Only in the evening will the water begin to recede. The high level also remains in the Przytór-Łunowo and Karsibór housing estates.
The tree fell on the railway track
There are also difficulties in train traffic. A tree fell on the railway traction on the Reblino – Wrześnica route. According to PKP, railway traffic on this section was suspended.
Due to the difficult weather situation, the arrival of trains to Szczecin Główny was delayed. The services responsible for clearing snow from roads ensure that all routes are passable. However, where snow falls – this is the western part of the region – it can be slippery in places, especially on local routes. Near Braniewo or Bartoszyc there is already about 20 cm of snow. The wind blows it onto the road in places.
The police reported that in the village of Strubno near Braniewo, due to difficult road conditions, a woman skidded, drove into a ditch and rolled over. The driver's life is not in danger.
There are currently 42 snow-clearing and road-spreading vehicles on national roads in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, and 17 on provincial roads. In Morąg, due to heavy snowfall, snowblowers were used on the sidewalks.
Interventions in Pomerania
It has been snowing in the Pomeranian Voivodeship for several hours. Since the morning, 133 vehicles of snow removal and anti-ice equipment have been working on provincial roads. According to the Provincial Roads Authority, there is snow on the roads in all poviats of the voivodeship. Despite difficult winter conditions, the roads are passable.
A several-kilometer traffic jam was created on the Kwiatkowskiego Flyover in the village of Gdyniawhich leads from the port to the Tricity Bypass (S6). There are mainly trucks parked there, which have trouble getting up from the exit onto the ring road towards Gdańsk. There is also heavy snow on the roads in the Tricity itself. Due to snowfall and strong winds, the fire brigade recorded 106 incidents. As Jakub Friedenberger, spokesman for the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Gdańsk, reported on Saturday morning, firefighters went mainly to the fallen trees. – There were no injuries in the incident – Friedenberger reported.
