A 13-year-old boy living in Poland sent photos of a gun in his hand and a message to students in his class in Ireland that suggested a shooting might occur. Interpol got involved in the case. Police officers from the Wejherowo district (Pomeranian Voivodeship) reached the boy.
The event took place on January 2, 2024 in Wejherowo County.
– A 13-year-old who was staying with his family in Poland during the Christmas period sent his school peers Ireland photo of a gun held in hand. He wrote disturbing content under the photo, suggesting a shooting at the school – said the press officer of the Wejherowo police, staff midshipman Anetta Potrykus.
Wejherowo police officers received information about the incident from the International Police Cooperation Office, which received a message from Interpol.
The gun turned out to be a ball replica
On January 4, the police reached the 13-year-old who was still in Poland. In a conversation with the officers, he explained that “it was all just a joke.”
– The police carried out activities at the scene and did not reveal any dangerous items, the gun from the photo turned out to be a ball replica – the policewoman explained.
The case went to family court
The boy has already been questioned by the police. The materials collected in this case were forwarded to the family and juvenile court.
