Palestinians attacked two German tourists who entered the West Bank city of Nablus in a vehicle with Israeli license plates, The Times of Israel reported. A video of the event has surfaced online.

Video footage shows Palestinians throwing stones at the car, trying to open the door and attacking the occupants of the vehicle, which has Israeli license plates, an Israeli flag sticker and the logo of the Tel Aviv municipality.

Ultimately Germany managed to escape, and an Arab Israeli was supposed to help them escape, the TV channel “Channel 12 News” reported. A military source said military medics treated the “superficial injuries” of a couple of German tourists outside Nablus.

The year 2022 and the beginning of 2023 brought an increase in tensions between Israel and the Palestinians. Armed groups are emerging in the West Bank to attack Israeli soldiers and civilians, but also to oppose the increasingly unpopular Palestinian authorities. In areas of the northern West Bank where most of the clashes take place, PA control is diminishing and young Palestinians are losing hope for a Palestinian state.
