West Pomeranian. Accident on provincial road No. 171 between Barwice and Czaplinek

Five cars collided on the provincial road between Barwice and Czaplinek (West Pomeranian) on Sunday. One person died, and four, including a child, went to the hospital. Others were provided on site.

On the provincial road No. 171 between Barwice and Czaplinek, five cars collided.

– Two buses and three passenger vehicles participated in the event, which were traveled by 18 people, including three children. One person could not be saved – said Capt. Mirosław Śledź, commander of the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Szczecinek. “I don't have detailed information about the state of health of the other participants of the event,” he added.

– The incident occurred at 18:30. We initially determined 13 people injured. A fatal sacrifice is a woman. A child aged 10 in a serious condition was transported by LPR helicopter to the hospital – in turn informed asp. pcs. Anna Matys, police press officer in Szczecinek.

A total of four people went to the hospital. Others were provided on site.

Staff aspirant Anna Matys from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Szczecinek said in a conversation with TVN24 that “the reason for this event was most likely the failure of the journey.” – The vehicle performing a left turn maneuver did not notice a properly driving bus from the opposite direction and then a road incident occurred, and this resulted in subsequent events by hovering to the back of the vehicles ahead – she explained.

She noted that this is only a preliminary hypothesis that policemen will verify.

The traffic is suspended on the route Barwice – Przybkowo. Services are ongoing all the time.

Appeal for reason on the roads

Returns from a long weekend are underway. Police throughout Poland from Wednesday recorded 278 accidents in which 17 people were killed and 323 were injured.
