– Commencing the construction of the metro is the most important commitment I made to the residents of… time election campaign – the president commented at the end of August Krakow Aleksander Miszalski. How we informedthe city was to create a specific action plan and divide the investment into three stages. More on this topic they wrotein the article: “Metro not only in Warsaw. This city is launching an underground communication project. 'Priority'“. Currently, however, there is more and more controversy surrounding the construction.
“Conflict of interest” regarding the construction of the metro. The parents of the president of Krakow are involved
According to media reports, an environmental decision for the metro could not be made in Krakow, because on the route of the announced investment there is to be a property belonging to Aleksander Miszalski's parents. Initially, it was reported about a “plot”. The mayor of the city reacted to this information. – First of all, this is not a plot of land, only a 30-meter plot apartment […]which was purchased by his parents about 10 years ago – Miszalski replied in a recording published on the X platform. He added that there are a total of as many as 600 plots in the area of the planned metro construction.
– These may be thousands of residents who have some shares, an apartment in a block of flats or their own property, and according to the law, each of them can be a party to the proceedings – Miszalski further stated, referring to the issue of “conflict of interest”. – Of course, we will not destroy anything there, expropriate anything, but since I am the managing body, the president, I have to exclude the commune from these proceedings, because my parents, not me, are theoretically a party to the proceedings. The law states that this decision must be transferred to another commune – concluded the mayor of Krakow.
Metro without budget money? The Ministry of Infrastructure responded
As the portal informs money.plthe government budget for 2025 did not provide funds to support the construction of the Krakow metro. The Ministry of Infrastructure responded to the interpellation of Rafał Komarewicz from Poland 2050 on this matter.
The ministry revealed that support for this investment was not included in the budget because “so far, the Voivode of MaÅ‚opolska has not applied to the Minister of Finance for funds for the construction of the metro in Krakow.” According to the ministry, co-financing of local government units' own tasks from national funds of the state budget is only possible application the appropriate administrator of the budget part, which in this case is the Voivode of MaÅ‚opolska.
