I am in favor of publishing lists of companies that have earned on grain imports from Ukraine. It is a matter of days when these lists will be announced, said Agriculture Minister Robert Telus on RMF FM radio on Saturday.
– I am in favor of providing lists of companies that have earned on the import of grain from Ukraine. But you have to remember that these companies were not breaking the law. Maybe it was immoral that they sold grain feed from Ukraine to a Polish farmer, but these companies acted in accordance with EU law, said Agriculture Minister Robert Telus on Saturday on RMF FM radio.
When will the list of companies be published?
The minister was asked when such a list might be published. “It’s only a matter of time before such lists will be published,” he said. “It’s a matter of days,” he said.
He assured that the grain will leave Poland and added that the government is most interested in exporting the grain, which is currently in farmers’ warehouses.
– During the meetings I hold with export companies, it was pointed out that the main problem was the reluctance of farmers to sell grain due to the low price. But this great help we have announced will encourage farmers to sell their grain. And the companies have contracts and they will transport the grain, said Minister Telus.
He repeated that the government wanted to “take off” 3-4 million tons of grain from the market and assured that it would be exported from Poland on time. – Polish ports are not clogged yet, they still have high capacity, one million tons of grain can be transported through them every month – said Robert Telus.
He assured that it would be possible to transport the grain within 3 months, using ports as well as road and rail transport, but – as he said – the government is also working on increasing the capacity of warehouses. “Also, another thing we’re doing is subsidizing the construction of silos without a permit,” Telus said.
Fruit problem
The Minister of Agriculture also admitted that a lot of fruit from Ukraine was imported to Poland.
– Yesterday I had a meeting with fruit growers, let’s call it, with those who deal with processing. We have a problem because Polish freezers contain a lot of frozen fruit that came from Ukraine. We are thinking of helping in this matter, maybe even in the matter of loans for these companies, we will work on it – said the Minister of Agriculture.
