Almost two weeks before returning to school, it is worth checking what changes await students. These include the lack of history and the present in the first grades of secondary schools. In addition, the Ministry of National Education appeals to parents not to give up old textbooks due to program changes, because they consist of giving up some content, not adding new content.
– I am happy, probably as are the teachers, that the scope of the core curriculum has been reduced – admits Halina Buchowska, principal of Primary School No. 2 in Skawina.
The prospect of more freedom may sweeten the return to school for students, although it has also become tense. Parents wondered whether the new core curriculum would require buying new textbooks. “There is pressure on parents to buy new textbooks. This really shouldn't happen,” says Iga Kazimierczyk, president of the “Przestrzeń dla Edukacji” Foundation. She adds that there is no reason to replace textbooks.

The Ministry of National Education appeals to leave old textbooks and watch out for fraudsters. – I want to emphasize that we can take over textbooks from siblings or friends, those that have been used so far – informs Joanna Mucha, Deputy Minister of Education.
MEN reminds us that the basis is reduced, not changed. – Ecological approach, but also economic. You don't have to buy a new book, just choose the right content from the current one – assesses Anna Niewińska, principal of the 8th General Secondary School in Wrocław.
There are more changes
There are many new things waiting for students at school anyway. Students from Ukraine, who have been learning online, for example, will appear at school. This could be as many as 80,000 new students. – Teachers will have to do all this, with the resources they have, because additional support is not planned for them – Iga Kazimierczyk points out.
Among the changes: the end of HiT for first-graders in secondary schools, and grades in religion and ethics will no longer be counted towards the average. Additionally, if there are few people willing to take religion or ethics, several classes will study together. – If it is a small group of children who sign up for religion, you can simply make one class out of these two classes – indicates the deputy minister of education.
However, first aid training will be mandatory. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity has been teaching how to provide it for 18 years and will continue to do so. – Some of these classes can be conducted simply through play. Children learn this knowledge best when it is something positive, something interesting for them, which is why we are donating equipment to every school – informs Anna Stawicka, coordinator of the educational program “We save and teach how to save” from the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation. Each school will also have to make sure that toilets always have toilet paper and paper towels or working hand dryers.
