A year after the deadly beating of a 25-year-old fireman from Biały Dunajec (Lesser Poland), the investigation in this matter was still not completed, nobody heard the allegations. Despite the assurances of the prosecutor's office that the activities are at the final stage, the family announces a protest.

A spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Nowy Sącz, Justyna Rataj-Mykyn informed about the close end of the investigation. – The proceedings are at a very advanced stage, but we are still waiting for two key opinions – in the field of toxicological and biological tests and complementary to the opinion of the Department of Forensic Medicine, which is to comprehensively assess the mechanism of injuries – she explained.

She added that after obtaining these opinions, the prosecutor's office will decide as to the further direction of the proceedings and the possible presentation of the allegations.

The family announces a protest

The family of the deceased firefighter does not hide bitterness and announces a protest against investigators.

– A year has passed since my son's death, and despite numerous evidence, no one was detained. There is a recording of monitoring, there are witnesses who saw a brutal assault and did not react, and yet no one suffered the consequences. Why is it so much? Why is the evidence omitted? We demand a reliable investigation and punishment of guilty – says the mother of the deceased, Anna Ziętkowicz.

The tragic event occurred on the night of August 1-2, 2024 in the firehouse of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Biały Dunajec. According to the prosecutor's office, there was a fight there, after which the 25-year-old was in a serious condition to the hospital in Nowy Targ. Despite the efforts of doctors, he died a few days later. The autopsy showed that the cause of death was a sub -ward hematoma. The investigation in this case is being conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in Zakopane.
