The White House announced on Tuesday that US President Joe Biden had a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson about the situation in Afghanistan. The two leaders agreed to hold a virtual G7 summit on this issue next week.
G7 Summit on “Common Strategy and Approach” on Afghanistan
As stated in the press release, both leaders discussed “the need for continued close cooperation between Allies and Democratic partners on future Afghanistan policy, including ways in which the global community can help refugees and deliver humanitarian aid.”
The G7 summit agreed by Biden and Johnson is to be about “a common strategy and approach” to these problems. No date for this virtual meeting was given. Boris Johnson was the first leader Joe Biden spoke to since the fall of the Afghan government.
