The Social Insurance Institution has launched a calculator in which you can calculate the estimated amount of combined benefits, i.e. survivor's pension after the deceased spouse and your own benefit – said Karol Jagielski, the regional spokesman for ZUS in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
Last year, the Sejm passed regulations introducing a widow's pension. According to the act, widows and widowers will be able to receive a full survivor's pension and 15 percent. own benefit or vice versa.
New calculator
Jagielski said that the calculator suggests which payment option will be more advantageous.
The tool is available on the website ZUS. The plant emphasized that the results “are estimates and cannot constitute the basis for any claims.”
Applications from January
Applications for the so-called widow's pension can be claimed from January 1, 2025. There is a survey available on the ZUS website that helps the interested person determine whether he or she is entitled to it.
Payment of benefits in the run-up will start on July 1, 2025.
However, from January 1, 2027, the second benefit will be increased from 15 to 25%. ZUS notes that this choice will also be available to those entitled to benefits or pre-retirement benefits, bridge pensionteacher's compensation benefit or training pension.
