The following positions were taken by: the four-year-old stallion Night Thunder (Szczepan Mazur), the three-year-old mare Nania (Tore Hammer-Hansen), the four-year-old stallion Hipop de Loire (Sanżar Abajew) and the five-year-old stallion Gancegal (Anton Turgajew).

Wielka Warszawska – a celebration of horse riding and racing

Crowds of horse riding and racing fans came to the Sunday races, and most of all to Wielka Warszawska. A year ago, the Grand Warsaw was won by the French Vincent Cheminaud at Nagano Gold, and today’s winner was second, also under Stefan Mura. – I followed all the recommendations of the coach and controlled the race at an even pace, keeping my strength for the finish, how effective. Words of appreciation are due to the horse owners and the trainer. I was just an equestrian tourist that day – said Mura.

The coach Krzysztof Ziemiański was in a truly champagne mood. Night Torando, trained by him, won, and Petit was in second place. – Not every rider fits every horse. Night Tornado requires velvet riding, and that’s the skill Stefano has. The stallion feels very good under it. When it’s fresh, it can fight. The most important thing in this race was to let the stallion gallop, but also to leave the strength to finish. I dedicate the success to my mother, Teresa, emphasized Ziemiański.

The owners of Night Tornado are: Magdalena, Emilia and Joanna Traka.

Grzegorz Konarski (born in 1942) was also among the spectators, who has been a regular at the Służewiec track since the early 1960s. – The most important thing is that the audience returned to the track, and the aura adjusted to the mood. I like racing, because I have tied my whole life with horses, working in Strzegom, where my son Marcin took over in the family relay race – pointed out Konarski-senior.

A year ago, the race was held without spectators for the first time in history due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The winner of the 108th edition of WW was waiting for a prize of PLN 126 thousand. zlotys. For the second place there was a bonus of PLN 50,400, and for the third – PLN 25,200.

It was the 76th Great Warsaw track on the Służewiec track, and the 108th in history. Races on it have been held since 1939. Earlier, horse riding enthusiasts met at the hippodrome in Pole Mokotowskie
