Andrzej Gołota it is one of the greatest Polish legends sports. At the turn of the 1990s and 2000s, our boxer fought iconic fights in the heavyweight division. In the ring he faced, among others, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Riddick Bowe. His last fight was in 2013. Then he defeated him Przemysław Saleta. Although Gołota currently lives permanently in the United States, he occasionally visits Poland. He will certainly remember his visit from December this year for a long time.
Will Gołota return to the ring? It would be a hit
Why? All because of an irrational incident that took place on Saturday during the Babilon MMA 50 gala in Ożarów Mazowiecki. At one point, a furious Andrzej Gołota literally knocked out Henryk Zatyka – multiple Polish super heavyweight champion, who was also invited to the event – with one punch. Apparently it was the later injured party who provoked the four-time contender for the world heavyweight championship.
– I don't know what it was about this time, but Andrzej simply got up from the table and knocked out Zatyka with a right hook – said an anonymous interlocutor of “Super Express”. – Zatyka was lurking around him like a fox. I don't know if he wanted to tease him. Maybe he was jealous that everyone was taking photos with Golota and not with him. In my opinion, the instigator of this whole situation was Heniek – added Tomasz Babiloński – the organizer of the entire gala – in an interview for WP SportoweFakty. There were also reports that Zatyka threw a piece of tangerine at Gołota.
It must be admitted that no one expected such a “variety” of Saturday's event. However, it turns out that the promoter wants to go a step further. It is possible that soon both former boxers, who do not like each other very much, will enter the ring! – There's this topic in the back of my mind, because why not? Mike Tyson fought recently and there was quite a stir. Why not try it in Poland? Heniek certainly wants it very much, and Andrzej is in Szczyrk for now – Babiloński revealed in an interview for Przegląd Sportowy Onet.
The promoter even tried to set a preliminary date for a potential fight between Gołota and Zatyka. – If we were to do it, I'm thinking about the turn of February and March. They would both have time to prepare, although I emphasize once again that for now these are dreams, he noted. Nevertheless, everything indicates that the knocked out Henryk Zatyka clearly took the opportunity to fight the legendary boxer to heart.
– Heniek called me at two in the morning after the incident to say that he had started training with shadow fighting. Of course, if they were to fight, it would be under normal boxing rules. If there was a fight, it probably wouldn't last the entire distance. They both know how to box. Heniek is less remembered, but he was a very good player, once a Polish champion who went to the world and European championships – we read. So far, it is not known how Gołota himself views such an idea.
