William Friedkin, the director of the horror film The Exorcist and the crime drama The French Connection, died Monday at the age of 87, US media reported. It was for directing this second film that he won an Oscar.
The director’s wife told The Hollywood Reporter that William Friedkin died in Los Angeles.
Actor Elijah Wood wrote on social media that “a true master of cinema” has passed away, whose influence will “last forever”.
