The capsule with William Shatner on board reached the edge of outer space on Wednesday and returned to earth. The 90-year-old actor and star of the “Star Trek” series thus became the oldest astronaut. It was the second successful commercial flight of the New Shepard rocket owned by Jeff Bezos Blue Origin.
After disengaging from the passenger capsule, New Shepard returned to the Blue Origin spaceport in Texas on her own. The capsule itself with a Canadian actor and three other passengers also made a successful landing.
The flight took about 10 minutes and passengers spent about three minutes weightless.
