The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns of storms. Second-degree warnings have been issued for almost all of Poland. Forecasters predict heavy rainfall and very strong winds. Heat warnings are also in effect for a large area of the country on Sunday. The temperature in some places may exceed 30 degrees Celsius in the shade.
Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first, second and third degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.
IMWM warnings of the second degree – storms
Second degree warnings ahead storms concern the following voivodeships:
- Pomeranianexcept the western counties;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
- Warmia-Masuria;
- Podlaskiethe northern half of the voivodeship;
- Masovianexcept the eastern counties;
- Lodz;
- Greater Polandexcept the western and northern counties;
- lubuskiesouthern counties;
- Lower Silesia;
- Opole;
- Silesian;
- Lesser Poland;
- Świętokrzyskie;
- Subcarpathianwestern counties.
Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by very heavy rainfall from 35 to 55 liters per square meter and wind gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail will appear.
The warnings will be valid from 2pm on Sunday until 6am on Monday.
IMWM first degree warnings – storms
Lower-level storm warnings have also been issued. They cover the following provinces:
- Pomeranianoutside the counties covered by higher level warnings;
- West Pomeraniansouthern counties;
- Greater Polandoutside the counties covered by higher level warnings;
- lubuskieoutside the counties covered by higher level warnings;
- Podlaskiethe southern half of the voivodeship;
- Masovianeastern counties;
- Lublin;
- Subcarpathianoutside the counties covered by higher level warnings.
In these places, during storms, forecasters predict heavy rainfall from 20 to 35 l/m2 and wind gusts of up to 70 km/h. Locally, hail.
The warnings will be in effect from 2pm on Sunday until 6am on Monday.
IMWM warnings of the second degree – heat
IMGW warns of heat. Orange warnings apply in the following provinces:
- lubuskieoutside the counties of Strzelce-Drezdenko and Gorzów, Gorzow Wielkopolski;
- Lower Silesianoutside the following counties: Zgorzelec, Lubań, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, WalbrzychKłodzko;
- Opole;
- Świętokrzyskie;
- Silesianoutside the Żywiec district;
- Lesser Polandoutside the following counties: Tatra and Nowy Targ;
- Subcarpathian;
- Lublin;
- Podlasie;
- Warmia-Masuria;
- Masovian;
- Lodz;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian;
- Pomeranianin the counties of: Malbork, Sztum, Kwidzyn, Tczew, Starogard;
- Greater Polandexcept for the following counties: Złotów, Piła, Czarnków-Trzcianka.
Maximum daytime temperatures will range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius. The warnings will expire at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Second degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing large material losses and a threat to health and life. Dangerous phenomena or the effects of their occurrence significantly limit the conduct of business. Expect disruptions in everyday functioning.
