The north of Greece is preparing for heavy snowfall. In some regions, schools will be closed on Monday, drivers must use snow chains, and truck traffic is banned.
Snow has been falling in parts of Macedonia since Sunday morning, and significant weather deterioration is expected in the evening. Schools will remain closed on Monday in Western Macedonia. Local authorities in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and Central Macedonia can make their own decisions regarding the operation of facilities, ProtoThema reports.
Heavy snowfall is also expected in the central part of the country, especially in mountainous areas. Heavy rainfall is expected in the west of Greece storms.
Truck traffic will be banned on some roads from Sunday evening to Monday afternoon. In some regions, drivers are required to use snow chains.
Great cooling
Forecasters also predict a large temperature drop, up to 10 degrees Celsius in the central and northern parts of the country. This weather will last until Tuesday.
At the same time, on Sunday afternoon, the beaches near Athens were full of people. Enjoying the sunny, warm day, beachgoers sunbathed, sipped coffee, walked and played sports, and some daredevils went swimming. Thermometers showed up to 19 degrees. However, the weather in the capital is also forecast to deteriorate from Sunday evening. It's going to rain and it's going to get colder.
