The police announce more patrols on roads across the country. The reason is the beginning of winter holidays for children and teenagers. Officers will pay particular attention to, among other things, how passengers and luggage are transported. They will also check the buses carrying young people for winter holidays, said Chief Commissioner Robert Opas from the Road Traffic Bureau of the General Police Headquarters.

School holidays start on Saturday. Students from the Lubelskie, Łódzkie, Podkarpackie, Pomorskie and Śląskie voivodships will be the first to rest from 14 to 29 January. As noted by Robert Opas, during the winter holidays one should expect increased vehicle traffic on the roads related to trips.

– Travel, regardless of the chosen means of transport, should be safe for all road users. Therefore, traffic policemen will monitor the flow of traffic on the main communication routes and access roads to places of winter recreation – emphasized the superintendent.

He indicated that the police would also pay special attention to, inter alia, compliance with the permitted speed limits by drivers, as well as the manner of transporting passengers, luggage and the technical condition of vehicles. – Officers of the “SPEED” teams will also be involved in the implementation of tasks related to ensuring road safety, who will also respond to violations of traffic regulations – noted Opas.

Bus inspections

– An important element of concern for safety are inspections of buses carrying children and teenagers for winter holidays. That is why the Road Traffic Office of the General Police Headquarters has prepared a list of places where buses are inspected and drivers of buses transporting children and teenagers to rest, he said.

The list of places published on the Police website contains a list of points from across the country along with contact phone numbers where you can get information on the possibility of carrying out ad hoc inspections of coaches and drivers.

– A good solution is to inform the policemen about the planned departure several days in advance. Thanks to this, you can avoid a longer wait for the arrival of the police patrol – pointed out Robert Opas. – At the same time, we would like to inform you that on the website https://bezpiecznyautobus.gov.pl you can check the basic information about the bus: data on the technical examination, technical data, information on the OC policy – added the superintendent.
