On an unguarded beach in Wisełka (West Pomeranian Voivodeship), a child was swimming and was unable to get to shore due to strong currents. Two men rushed to his aid, one of them got out of the water on his own, the other disappeared under the water.
On August 5 in the afternoon, the services received a report of two people drowning on an unguarded beach in Wisełka. On site, the services learned that a girl had been swimming in the sea, unable to cope with the strong currents. Two men, including her stepfather, rushed to rescue her, but after reaching the child, they had trouble returning to shore.
Firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Department in Kołczewo, who were called to the scene, reported that one of the men, together with the child, made it to shore on his own, but the other was underwater. A search for him began. WOPR and SAR rescuers, police, fire brigade and Szczecin divers participated in the operation.

Junior Sergeant Katarzyna Jasion, spokeswoman for the District Police Headquarters in Kamień Pomorski, said that the people forming the chain of life began to drown and also had trouble getting to shore due to very strong sea currents.
– Everyone got to shore safely, but the search was terminated due to the late hour of the day and poor conditions, she said.
The search for the missing man resumed at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
