Włodawa. Police detain 50-year-old man who abused his family

Up to five years in prison is facing a 50-year-old from Włodawa County (Lubelskie Province) who allegedly abused his wife and stepdaughter. According to the police, he allegedly started fights, called women names, threatened them with death and chased them out of their homes. The suspect was charged and taken to jail.

During a domestic intervention, the Włodawa police arrested a 50-year-old from the Włodawa district, who – as the officers determined – had been mentally abusing his wife and stepdaughter since June. “The man started domestic fights during which he called the wronged women vulgar names, humiliated them, harassed them, threw them out of the house, threatened to kill them and burn them. At the time of arrest, he had almost three per mille of alcohol in his blood,” said cadet Elwira Tadyniewicz from the Włodawa police.

The 50-year-old was charged with abusing his wife and stepdaughter. The evidence gathered allowed him to be placed under preventive detention for three months. According to the current regulations, the perpetrator of violence faces a penalty of up to five years in prison.

This can be done by calling the free emergency number 112, the nearest police unit, MOPS, GOPS, PCPR. Free legal aid and psychological support as well as a room can also be obtained in Specialist Support Centers, which operate throughout Poland.
