WNBA star Candace Parker pays tribute to Kobe, Gigi Bryant after Sky’s championship

Chicago Sky star Candace Parker paid tribute to Kobe Bryant after she helped the staff to the franchise’s first WNBA championship on Sunday.

Parker was captured amassing her ideas after her hometown staff closed out the sequence towards the Phoenix Mercury. She mentioned the second was a tribute to the late Los Angeles Lakers legend, who famously posed with the Larry O’Brien Trophy within the locker room after successful his second title.

“I believe Kobe and Gigi have meant a lot to our league,” Parker mentioned, through Yahoo Sports. “So the recommendation I bought from Vanessa earlier than the sport was, ‘Play Gigi’s means.’ And I believe we’ve executed that. We did that every one playoffs. And so I simply wish to acknowledge [Kobe’s] contribution.”

Parker revealed the Bryants had been on the Sky’s thoughts throughout the recreation.

Vanessa Bryant was cheering for Parker and the Sky. She confirmed that Parker requested for a “Kobeism.”

“You requested me for an additional ‘Kobeism’ this morning and I requested you to play Gigi’s means if she was given this chance. You performed Gigi’s Approach!” Bryant wrote in an Instagram post.

Parker hit a three-pointer to tie the sport at 72 with 1:57 remaining. She was in tears speaking with ESPN’s Holly Rowe as she mentioned bringing a championship to Chicago.

“Every thing that this staff went by the whole 12 months ready us for this,” Parker mentioned. “We had been down 9, we had been down 11, we simply gotta stick with it, and that’s what we’ve executed all season. Parker, who signed with the Sky within the offseason after spending 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks, completed with 16 factors, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.
