A resident of Wodzisław Śląski assured the policemen that her animals were not harmed. They decided to check. They found three emaciated dogs in the apartment. One lived in the basement, in a canary aviary, with no access to water or food. A woman faces three years in prison for animal abuse.
On April 19, the Wodzisław police e-mail received a report regarding extreme neglect of animals on one of the properties in Wodzisław Śląski. Neighbors went to the spot.
– The owner of the dogs, in an interview with the police, denied that any harm was done to her animals. She stated that the dogs are doing well and the intervention of the services is unjustified. However, the police decided to check the conditions in which the dogs live – describes Małgorzata Koniarska, spokeswoman for the Wodzisław Police
As he says, they found three emaciated dogs, two in the apartment, the third in the basement, who lived in an aviary for canaries, without access to water and food.
Police officers notified a veterinarian, volunteers from Pet Patrol in Rybnik and Wodzisławska Municipal Police. An investigation team and forensic technicians were also sent to the site, who made photographic documentation and other procedural activities.
– The veterinarian decided to immediately pick up these animals due to the threat to their life and health – says Koniarska.
Two dogs were transported to the animal shelter in Wodzisław Śląski, and the third, whose condition was the most serious, went to the veterinary clinic in Rybnik.
Police say a 40-year-old animal sitter will be charged with animal abuse. She faces three years in prison. He will also be responsible for the lack of current vaccinations of dogs. Her application will be sent to court soon.
