Slowly, step by step, the holidays are ending and we are entering the autumn season. Blankets, cups of hot tea or chocolate, evenings with a book or… well, televisions are competing with each other in what they will present in the autumn schedule. And there is something to it, because in the era of streaming services and the Internet, you really have to show the audience something unique, firstly – to focus their attention, and secondly – to keep it. There is nothing groundbreaking about it.

TVN has launched a new reality show. In “B&B Love” Wojtek from Zanzibar and Samanta after 30 years in Poland

TVN in the fall it will focus on formats that are well known to people, including:Top model“, loved by viewers for 14 years now, “Asia Express” With Mandarin and Jessica Mercedes or also “Masterchef“. It might seem like these are just rehashes of old news, but for those who are discouraged, I can assure you that there will also be some new things and one of them is a new dating reality show – “B&B Love”. TVN called its new show a “documentary soap opera”. “It looks interesting” – I thought, to check what this type of format is all about. I turn on TVN, exactly at 8:50 p.m., making myself a sandwich in kitchen. And suddenly a voice comes from the TV: “Wojtek, Zanzibar”and in my head a million thoughts per second, a quick association of facts and I think to myself: “I don't believe it, I don't believe they did it”. I run with sandwiches to large roomI look and on the one hand I say to myself: “phew, it's a different Wojtek” (not the one that the whole of Poland was talking about at one time), and on the other I am filled with great anger because I felt cheated (not for the first time and probably not for the last time) by television. However, the effect was achieved – the first few minutes already stirred some emotions in meso while eagerly munching on previously made sandwiches, I decided to watch the episode.

Overall, the whole idea is quite interesting, and the production cannot be faulted for that. People who rent accommodation outside the borders of our beautiful country are visited by other people who decide to check in there for a while, get to know the hosts, and what will come out of this relationship (during which real life takes place, where you have to do shopping, for example) – that is the question. And this is how to 46-year-old Wojtek from Zanzibar, who admitted to being married to his wife only on paper, is visited by 29-year-old Kateryna, who normally does scantily clad modeling.who was impressed by Wojtek opening the car door for her. However, she eventually decided that it was only one percent of gentlemanliness, and the expedition for a watermelon and two coconuts in the thirty-degree heat turned out to be so tiring for her that she was forced to lie down in the guest room from the impression. I'm sorry what? After all, at first glance, it seems so absurd (not to mention staged) that I felt goosebumps when I watched it.

Another situation, I don't know if it wasn't even more abstract than the fact that Brooke first married Eric, then married Ridge several times, and along the way married his brother Thorne Forrester in “The Bold and the Beautiful”. I admit that I lost count in the cult tapeworm, so I wouldn't pay attention to the details. To the point – Marta, 43, lives in Sicily, where she moved after divorcing her first husband, where she met a hot Italian who “trampled on everything she did”, she got a tattoo in Italian “Never trust a man”to finally state that she will take part in the dating show. When a 44-year-old air conditioning installer comes to her, she almost faints from the amazement. The fitter is still on his way to Marta (who, when she meets him, starts behaving like Samantha from “Sex and the City” after 30 years in Poland) he states that he is a bit uncomfortable with the fact that the woman he is going to see has two children, because “he prefers women with a clean slate”. Finally, at the door, he throws her a text like the greatest Italian Alvaro, that “he deliberately didn't drink coffee so that he could drink it with her. And that's the funny part of the whole puzzle. However, for every funny text, there are ten hot flashes (no, I'm not in perimenopause) and shivers of embarrassment. You can see photos from the show in our gallery at the top of the page.

Love in Bed&Breakfast Style. Does It Make Sense?

The first episode of “B&B Love” was actually quite successful. Characteristic characters, a focus on “Wojtek from Zanzibar”, some funny element, some nice views. Certainly some group of recipients will get involved in such a story. I'm not sure, however, whether the absurdity following one absurdity in the stories of these characters and the selection of couples in this particular way (divorced Wojtek meets a much younger, attractive and brave model who is immediately capricious, and Marta, who clearly needs tenderness, meets a handsome fitter like Alvaro) won't scare off the audience. The history of reality shows shows that viewers love stories of ordinary (not exaggerated) characters – “Farmer.Podlasie“, “Marriage at first sight“, “Holiday Diaries” and many others. Even in all these “Paradise Hotels” Whether “Love Island“there is one specific pattern of participants – ordinary Kowalskis, only a bit more privileged than in “Marriage at First Sight” or other such programs. In “B&B Love”, in the very first episode we were given a full range of extremely different characters that neither convinced me (perhaps this will change in the next episodes), nor did I believe that they could actually like each other. The preview of the next episode didn't convince me to watch it, but let's just say “I'll do it so you don't have to.” For now, I'm a “no”but I don't rule it out, that “B&B Love” will draw me in PRECISELY because it is not like other reality shows. Time will tell.
