The 19-year-old driver ended his night drive on two concrete fences of the property and a power pole. It turned out that the young man was drunk. Now he will bear not only the consequences of driving on “double gas”, but also the costs of damage caused.

The police and firefighters were called by the residents of Wola Rzędzińska (Małopolskie Voivodeship), who were awakened by a loud bang just before midnight on Sunday. Soon after, darkness fell over the village. It was a drunk driver who ended up driving on a power pole.

“On the spot, droogs from the OSP Wola Rzędzińska and firefighters from Tarnów, as well as the Energy Plant in Tarnów, paramedics and police officers intervened. (…) Due to the risk of electric shock, the power engineers turned off the power supply at this point,” the police statement said.

“Traffic police officers checked his sobriety and it turned out that a 19-year-old resident of the Tarnów district has almost 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his blood. The young driver has lost his driving license, and in addition, he will be prosecuted for driving while intoxicated and cover the costs damage to two properties, plantings and replacement of damaged energy infrastructure. Driving under the influence of alcohol is punishable by up to two years in prison and up to a 15-year driving ban.
