Despite the ban on using classless furnaces, and even more so on burning waste, there is no shortage of people who “save” in this way. This time, city guards visited workshops: car workshops in Wola and carpentry and locksmith workshops in Ursynów.

While patrolling Wola, city guards from the Environmental Protection Department noticed dark smoke coming from the chimney at Gostyńska Street. The source of pollution was in the building of a car repair shop.

“The stench could be felt throughout the area. The officers inspected the company. In one of the rooms they found an old furnace. As it turned out, it was burning used engine oil, drained from vehicles serviced there. The guards identified the person responsible for the offense and imposed a fine on him. The owner was also obliged to immediately dismantle the old furnace and replace the workshop’s heating source with one that complies with the regulations,” the capital’s city guards said in a statement.

Old-type stoves and all kinds of “home-made” stoves emit toxic substances

During an inspection carried out on November 28 in the Ursynów district, city guards from the Environmental Protection Department noticed thick smoke rising above the carpentry and locksmith workshop at Kłobucka Street. They took control.

“In one of the rooms they found a classless solid fuel stove. It was polluting the air of the neighbors. Old-type stoves and all kinds of “home-made” stoves emit toxic substances. That is why their use is prohibited,” the release noted.

The guards ordered the owner to dismantle the stove and imposed penalties provided for by law.

The owners of both plants must take into account further visits by guards from the Environmental Protection Department.
