Wolka Kosowska. A warehouse full of counterfeit clothing and accessories

In Wólka Kosowska, officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Podlasie National Revenue Administration seized over 42,000 items of clothing and 350,000 labels and patches of well-known brands. They were all counterfeit. According to KAS, if the secured clothing and accessories were original, their value would amount to approximately PLN 30 million. Two people were arrested.

– Counterfeits marked with registered trademarks of well-known brands were located in several commercial and storage rooms in the marketplace – informed Justyna Pasieczyńska, the spokeswoman for the head of the National Revenue Administration.

– Uniforms also secured over 350,000 labels, patches and templates with the logos of well-known clothing companies and three devices for applying counterfeit marks to goods – she said. She added that if the secured clothing and accessories were original, their market value would be approximately PLN 30 million.

In connection with the action of the Podlaskie KAS, two people heard charges from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Piaseczno of marking goods with counterfeit trademarks in order to place them on the market and trade in counterfeits.

The alleged offense may be punishable by up to five years in prison.

“The counterfeits do not meet the quality standards”

– KAS prevents the sale of counterfeit goods. In this way, it supports honest entrepreneurs, cares for the rights of creators and protects consumers. Counterfeits do not meet quality standards and can be dangerous to the health of users. Examples include cosmetics and medicines made of unknown ingredients and toys with concentrations of phthalates exceeding the permissible standards – added Justyna Pasieczyńska.
