Criminal investigators from the Otwock police station together with officers from the capital have been working on the case for several months. The breakthrough came in March. At dawn, they entered a garage in a village in the Wołomin district.

On the spot, they detained four men aged 24 to 39 and secured two Toyota cars, partially dismantled, with a total value of nearly PLN 340,000. It turned out that they had been stolen at night in the Pruszków county. Two men, aged 27 and 33, were also detained in Warsaw, near their places of residence.

– The detainees stole cars of various brands mainly in the capital garrison. Then, in specially prepared garages, they disassembled these vehicles into parts, removed the original identification numbers from them, and then sold them – said Paulina Harabin from the Otwock police station.

“They may have dozens of thefts on their account”

Some of the suspects, according to the police, dealt with receiving and dismantling vehicles, and others with theft and transporting them to demolition sites. They used specialized devices for theft, allowing them to break into cars. According to the police, the detainees may have dozens of such thefts on their account.

For all six detained men, the prosecutor sent a request to the court for three months’ detention. The court fully shared the arguments and the position of the prosecutor and arrested the suspects.

“The case is ongoing and officers are not ruling out further arrests,” she said.
