A 23-year-old girl has died in a canine assault at a home in southwest Eire.

Emergency providers had been referred to as to the incident in Ballyneety, County Limerick, at round 11.40pm on Tuesday.

The girl was pronounced {dead} on the scene. Her physique has been taken to College Hospital Limerick for a autopsy.

The canine concerned was put down and several other others have been seized.
