Tusk: Every day should be your holiday

Women's Day has been celebrated all over the world for many years. Its genesis is associated with workers' movements that were born in Europe and North America at the beginning of the 20th century.

On March 8, 1908, women from the New York textile factory organized a strike, demanding, among others, equal wages. The owner of the facility closed them inside to avoid publicity. A fire broke out in the factory, as a result of which 129 women were killed. A year later, on February 28, 1909, as part of commemorating the victims, the first Women's Day celebrations took place. On March 8, International Women's Day was established in 1910.

He was considered the first day of the women's celebration in Poland on March 24, 1924. At that time, the three -day deliberations of the Congress of the Supreme Council of the Polish Circle began in Warsaw. Interestingly, the term “Women's Day” was the first to use the participant of the congress, but the editors of the “Polish courier”.
