The number of employees to be laid off is increasing. Increased costs, decreased orders, digitalization and new technologies are the main reasons for planned employment reductions – writes “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” on Wednesday. The industries laying off the most people include industrial processing and the IT sector.

“DGP” received answers to questions from 12 voivodeship labor offices. The collected data shows that over 90 companies reported in the first quarter of this year. intention to lay off almost 8,000 employees. A year ago, companies operating in their area considered terminating the employment relationships of just over 4,000 people. people, and reports came from over 80 plants.

The daily emphasizes that we are dealing with a clear upward trend.

The newspaper also refers to data from the Central Statistical Office, according to which: last year, 364 plants throughout the country reported 30.6 thousand employees to be dismissed – over 47 percent more than in 2022.

The daily indicates that the reasons for the planned reductions are primarily the economic situation, incl slowdown observed in the euro zone, which translates into a decline in orders and, consequently, financial problems for local entrepreneurs. At the same time, the costs of running a business are increasing, for example due to the increase in wages.

The industries that lay off the most people include industrial processing and the IT sector, which – as “DGP” points out – is to some extent a victim of its own success. The newspaper emphasizes that companies are laying off not only in groups.
