As he added, “we know that 6.5 million people in Poland suffered from Covid.” – These are very underestimated data. In fact, there were us – I was also sick – there were many more of us, 119,000 people died. Those who have survived this disease, many of us have respiratory problems. “None of us predicted that there would be a second Final or that there would be a thirty-second Final”

As Professor Bohdan Maruszewski said, “The Great Orchestra was created out of the need for pediatric cardiac surgery.” – But it was really about purchasing one device – a heart-lung machine. Then, after the first Final 32 years ago, we collected the equivalent of $1.5 million. And already then we shared it with all pediatric cardiac surgeons in Poland. None of us predicted that there would be a second Final or that there would be a thirty-second Final, he added.

When asked about the secret of the Orchestra’s success, he replied: – It’s a question of the leader, to be completely honest. The fact that we met with Jurek and the fact that Jurek gave it such great momentum and, above all, convinced all Poles that it is worth helping and that this is what civil society is all about. This is definitely a matter of a great, fantastic leader like Jurek Owsiak.
