The head of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, Jerzy Owsiak, presented the WOŚP heart to astronaut Sławosz Uznański, which will fly with him into space next year. The heart will be available for auction during the 33rd Finale.
On Monday morning, a press conference was held with the participation of the head of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Jerzy OwsiakPolish project astronaut of the European Space Agency Sławosz Uznański and Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk.
Owsiak gave the astronaut a WOŚP heart marked with the number one, which will fly with him into space next year.
The head of WOŚP said that the golden heart weighs 4.5 g. He reminded that such hearts have been auctioned for many years.
– Every year we have 100 such hearts, numbered. Number 13 always stays in the foundation, he said.
– Today I am sending these words to all those who would like to take part in the golden heart auction. This heart will be in space and will come back to us, but it will also return to the person who bids on it (during the 33rd Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity – ed.) – said Owsiak.
“The great thing is that we can work together so wonderfully”
As he said, “the word cosmos is repeated often.” – The crazy thing is that we have been playing for 32 years, and now it will be the 33rd year. The amazing thing is that we can work together so wonderfully. It's cosmic that someone says: give me a heart, because I'm thinking about you, because the heart is also related to me – he emphasized.
– For the first time, we will have such an opportunity to be on the International Space Station, and not only me as an astronaut, but also Polish companies, Polish enterprises, Polish science, Polish scientific institutes – said Uznański.
The 33rd finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will take place on January 26. This time the orchestra will play for pediatric oncology and hematology.
