The police detained a 24-year-old driver who had exceeded the speed limit in Przewale (Lublin Province) for inspection. Before the officer could come, the driver started to drive rapidly, then turned onto someone else’s property and continued on foot. After a short time, his brother, the owner of an abandoned car, handed him over to the police.
On Tuesday (9 November) after 1 p.m. in Przewale, traffic policemen stopped for inspection an Audi driver who had exceeded the speed limit by 27 km / h.
– At the moment when the policeman was approaching the stopping vehicle, the driver started abruptly and turned to a random nearby property, where he left the car and continued his escape on foot – says Staff Sergeant Małgorzata Pawłowska from the District Police Headquarters in Tomaszów Lubelski.
When the brother was at work, the 24-year-old took his car
After a short time, the fugitive was brought to the policemen by his brother, the owner of the Audi.
– As he said, his brother took the car without his consent when he was at work. On the other hand, the reason for the escape of a 24-year-old resident of the Zamość poviat was the lack of driving license – says the policewoman.
The police inquire whether the fugitive was already drunk while driving the car
The man was tested for alcohol content in the body. The result showed two parts per mille.
– Further actions in the case will show whether the man was under the influence of alcohol while driving and escaping, or if he consumed it after the incident – emphasizes Sgt. pc. Pawłowska.
