A four-month-old girl came to the Wrocław window of life on Friday afternoon. This is the 20th child since 2009 who has been entrusted in this way to the care of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Charles Borromeo.

– The child was brought in the middle of the day, before 2 pm. It was a four-month-old girl – said Sister Ewa from the Evangelium Vitae Foundation in an interview with TVN24.

The baby was well-groomed and healthy. They were found wrapped in a blanket. There were documents and a toy with the child, “Gazeta Wrocławska” reported.

“It was an unusual case for a window of life,” said Sister Ewa. As she said, if documents or a wristband from the hospital are left with the child, it is treated as a signal from the parents: we do not want to remain anonymous. – Then the parents will be summoned to court to formally renounce their parental rights, if only so as not to prolong the adoption process – she explained.

Sister Ewa pointed out that the window of life is not the best solution for a child and should be treated as a last resort. “It’s a lifeline when all else really fails,” she added.

The police were informed about the fact that the child had been left in the window of life in Wrocław, probably by a passer-by who witnessed the event. Moments later, the infant was taken away by the nun on duty.

The Window of Life

The window of life is an alternative for mothers who cannot raise their child and gave birth in secret from family and relatives. Mothers who leave their child in the window of life are not sought, and the child, after examinations in the hospital, is sent for adoption.

Wrocław’s window of life, which is located at Rydygiera Street, was established in 2009 and was the first such place in Lower Silesia. Since then, 20 children have come to him.
