A group of unknown perpetrators attacked an ambulance while its crew was helping a patient. At the sight of the returning rescuers, the aggressors fled, but left behind costly losses. The rear door of the vehicle was dented from blows with batons, the gasket and the car brand badge were also torn out.
The medical rescue team from the Wrocław-Krzyki substation on Thursday at around 1 p.m. intervened in one of the apartment blocks at Sudecka Street. After helping the patient, the medics noticed a group of young men exerting themselves on the car’s body while leaving the building.
“They hit the car with sticks / clubs and damaged the ambulance and torn the seal. We ask all witnesses of the incident to provide us with information or to the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wrocław at Ślężna Street, which is investigating this matter” – the rescuers informed on Facebook.
The aggressors fled at the sight of the rescuers, leaving behind visible and costly damage. After the initial inspection, it is known that the vehicle will have to be taken to the workshop. Damaged rear doors will have to be removed and repaired. On one side there is a visible dent, scratches here and there. Perhaps the ambulance will need re-wrapping. The Mercedes badge was also torn out from the rear door. Repair costs may exceed PLN 10,000.
The destroyed vehicle is a system ambulance going to serious incidents. Fortunately, the patient did not require hospitalization, and assistance was provided on the spot. Otherwise, the rescuers would probably have to look for another ambulance to transport the patient.
– The policemen are working on identifying those responsible for this act. Damage to property is punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment. After estimating the losses, the ambulance workers will place an appropriate order at the police station so that the proceedings in this case can continue – says Łukasz Dutkowiak, spokesman for the Wrocław police.
