Wroclaw. Attack on a Filipino citizen. The attacker has been charged, but will not be arrested

A 48-year-old woman who allegedly attacked a Filipino citizen at the end of June was charged with Art. 257 of the Penal Code, concerning assaults due to xenophobia, racism or religious intolerance. The prosecutor’s office requested that the 48-year-old be arrested for two months, but the court did not grant the request.

Let us remind you that the incident took place on June 30 at Powstańców Śląskich Street in Wrocław. A blogger and teacher from the Philippines who works every day in the capital of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship she was verbally and later physically attacked by an unknown woman.

The victim posted a video of the entire incident on her social media profile. It shows that the aggressor used obscene words towards the woman, threatened her with death and pushed her.

The press office of the Wrocław magistrate assured on social media that after the incident, the victim received “full legal and psychological support from the Wrocław Center for Social Development, which she will benefit from”.

The suspect will not be remanded in custody

Officers of the criminal division from the police station at ul. Ślężna, a few hours after the incident, they detained the 48-year-old attacker.

According to the young asp. Rafał Jarząb from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wrocław, yesterday the woman heard charges in connection with art. 257 of the Penal Code, concerning assaults due to xenophobia and racism or religious intolerance. She may be punished with up to 3 years in prison for the committed act.

– The court did not accede to the request of the prosecutor’s office to apply a preventive measure to the detainee in the form of pre-trial detention for a period of two months – adds young asp. mountain ash.
