Officers of the Central Police Investigation Bureau seized 36 weapons and 17.5 thousand rounds of ammunition. A man was arrested who was transporting 20 receivers for UZI submachine guns by car. According to investigators, he had hiding places in the forest where he kept complete firearms, including pistols and machine guns.
As he informs CBŚP, officers from Wrocław have been working in recent months to eliminate the “smuggling route of illegal firearms, their essential components and ammunition” leading through Poland. – For this purpose, cooperation was established with law enforcement agencies of several European Union countries through which weapons could be smuggled. The police carried out an operation in Lower Silesia, where they detained a man who came to Poland from… Czech – said the press secretary of the CBŚP, sub-inspector Iwona Jurkiewicz.
Rifles and pistols in forest hiding places
In the trunk of the passenger car in which the detainee was traveling, the officers found 20 receivers for UZI submachine guns. The policewoman emphasized that receivers are an important element of firearms. – Everything indicated that the detained may have the remaining parts of the weapon at his place of residence, which was quickly confirmed by the police – she added. In the man’s house, in utility rooms and in specially constructed forest hiding places, the officers found an arsenal of various types of weapons and ammunition. Police officers – as Jurkiewicz reported – discovered subsequent hiding places with weapons and ammunition, working non-stop for almost two days.
In total, two pistols, two revolvers, 14 rifles and machine guns, 18 submachine guns of various brands, 186 important firearm elements in the form of barrels, locks, chambers, skeletons and 17.5 thousand pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers. According to the police, the price of one piece of this type of weapon on the black market ranges from one thousand to two thousand euros.
The press department of the National Prosecutor’s Office informed that the man was charged with possessing firearms and ammunition without the required permit. The suspect faces up to eight years in prison. – The prosecutor submitted a request to the court for temporary arrest, and the court applied it – said PK. The services announced that the proceedings are ongoing and prosecutors do not rule out further arrests in this case.
