The District Prosecutor’s Office in Świdnica is investigating the death of a 25-year-old Ukrainian citizen in the Wrocław sobering-up center. The policemen brought him there.
On July 30, a police patrol was called to an intoxicated man who slept in a public transport bus. According to Gazeta Wyborcza, the Ukrainian citizen started to show aggressive behavior during his detention. He was taken to a sobering-up center.
– When the policemen removed his handcuffs, it started. He was furious. The second patrol arrived. In the end, we managed to fasten it with the seat belts – says the interlocutor of “Gazeta”.
On that day, the man died in the sobering-up center.
The investigation continues
Tomasz Orepuk, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świdnica (this unit took over the investigation) confirmed in an interview with TVN24 that a 25-year-old citizen of Ukraine died on the same day he was brought to the center. The prosecutor also confirmed the participation of police officers in the intervention. Investigators will determine whether there has been any violation of their powers.
– Proceedings are conducted towards manslaughter. We are currently awaiting the results of the section. Additional toxicological and histopathological tests have been commissioned, says prosecutor Orepuk.
The results of these studies are intended to answer the question whether, in addition to alcohol, the man was also under the influence of psychoactive substances.
