Lower Silesian police have arrested the perpetrator of a robbery of a mint that took place in January this year in Wrocław. The 48-year-old suspect allegedly stole gold and coins worth over PLN 66,000, and then hid in Germany.

“Detectives located the 48-year-old in one of the German states. At the prosecutor's request, the court issued a European Arrest Warrant for him,” reports Deputy Commissioner Przemysław Ratajczyk from the Lower Silesian police.

The 48-year-old suspected of stealing gold and coins was arrested in mid-June in a town in Saxony. When he was handcuffed and taken to police custody, Polish-German actions aimed at his extradition began.

“Last week, the 48-year-old returned to Poland with police escort. After being handed over to Polish officers, the man was taken into custody,” the police report.
The man will be taken to the prosecutor's office, where he will hear the charges and then stand trial. He could face up to 15 years in prison.
