Yacht carrying £120m of cocaine intercepted off Plymouth coast | UK Information

Six individuals, together with a British man, have been arrested off the coast of Plymouth after authorities seized 1,500kg of cocaine – value round £120m.

The Nationwide Crime Company (NCA) mentioned the Briton – from Stockton on Tees, County Durham – and 5 Nicaraguans have been arrested aboard a Jamaican-flagged yacht 80 miles (129km) out to sea.

The lads, aged between 24 and 49, have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and stay in custody, the NCA mentioned in an announcement.

The arrests have been the results of a joint operation between the NCA, Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Border Power.

NCA deputy director Matt Horne mentioned: “There is not any doubt these medicine would have been bought on into communities throughout the UK in such methods as County Traces fuelling extra crime and distress.

“Organised crime teams (OCG) are motivated by cash. The deprivation of those medicine will smash a gap within the OCG’s plans and skill to function.

“Additionally, the arrests of the boys transporting the medicine means the crime group has misplaced trusted offenders who would have been key to their operation.
