Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the mercenary Wagner Group, won a tender for the supply of meals to school students in the Moscow region; companies controlled by Prigozhin will earn 2.4 billion rubles, or about PLN 100 million, in this way, independent Russian Telegram profiles Dossier and Mozem Objasnit informed.

Contracts with these companies, worth a total of around 2 billion rubles, were signed after Prigozhin’s rebellion in June and his “march on Moscow”. In addition to the head of the Wagner Group, food for schools near Moscow is delivered only by former parliamentarian Vladimir Bakeryov. It is worth noting, however, that it has been operating on this market for a long time, while Prigozhin, known for its previous involvement in the catering industry, became involved in the delivery of meals to students for the first time.

As noted by opposition journalists, it is even more puzzling that the function of the governor of the Moscow region has been held for nearly 10 years by Andrei Vorobyov, a politician closely associated with the defense minister Sergei Shoiguin conflict with Prigozhin.

“Perhaps the reason for (the Kremlin’s) loyalty to Prigozhin is the fact that (the head of the Wagnerists) has a lot of material that could compromise the Russian authorities. Prigozhin’s personal safety, that is, his life, and, apparently, the survival of his most profitable business depend on it.” – assessed independent media.

Wagnerian revolt in Russia

On June 24, the Wagnerians occupied the headquarters of the Russian troops in Rostov-on-Don, and then began to advance towards Moscow. Prigozhin, who had long been at odds with the part of the Russian military establishment commanding the invasion Ukrainedemanded “the restoration of justice” in the army and the removal of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu from power.

That same evening, Prigozhin announced a retreat and the withdrawal of the mercenaries to the field camps to “avoid bloodshed”. This was the result of the deal between the Belarusian authoritarian leader Alyaksandr Lukashenko and Prigozhin, concluded in an agreement with Vladimir Putin. According to these arrangements, some of the fighters of the Wagner Group and Prigozhin himself were to move to Belarus.

Independent media: contrary to what Prigozhin says, the Wagner Group is still recruiting new fighters

As announced on July 30 by the British Ministry of Defense, from mid-July to the military base in the village of Cel in the middle Belarus at least several thousand Wagner ships arrived, but it remains unclear what happened to their heavy equipment. Belarusian media reported in recent weeks that z Russia several columns of mercenaries have already entered the neighboring country.

Prior to his involvement in the Wagner Group, Prigozhin owned a catering company for the Kremlin. For this reason, the businessman was called “Putin’s cook”.
