From April 1 to May 31, applications for a subsidy for the liquidation of septic tanks can be submitted. This applies to homeowners that may be connected to sewerage networks. The investments must be completed in 2023.

“If the property is located in an area where it is possible to connect to the existing sewage network, the property owner is obliged to connect to the network. Pursuant to the Act on collective water supply and collective sewage disposal, the person applying for connection must do so at his own expense” the city hall reported. This obligation does not apply to properties equipped with a household sewage treatment plant.

The city provides a subsidy of PLN 6,000 for the implementation of such an investment. Details of the conditions for granting grants are available on the website of the Municipal Contact Center Warszawa 19115. “In the area of 11 districts – Bemowo, Białołęka, Bielany, Mokotów, Rembertów, Targówek, Ursynów, Wawer, Wesoła, Wilanów, Włochy – an eco-manager may provide assistance in completing the application” – handed over by the city hall.

Last year, the city provided 358 such grants.

Inspections are underway

At the same time, inspections of septic tanks (septic tanks) and household sewage treatment plants are carried out in Warsaw. The City Hall pointed out that during the inspection, the property owner is obliged to present the contract with the sewage collection company and evidence confirming that he pays for this service (bills, invoices) to authorized employees of the City Hall and city guards. The receipts must confirm the regularity of the removal of sewage from the septic tank. Pursuant to the regulations for maintaining cleanliness and order in Warsaw, liquid waste collected in septic tanks should be disposed of at least once a quarter.

Anyone who has a household sewage treatment plant should remember about the obligation to dispose of sewage sludge at least once every two years (in accordance with the regulations mentioned above). It must also be properly documented – a signed contract for the removal of sewage sludge and bills for this service. At the end of 2022, there were 357 properties in Warsaw with a household sewage treatment plant.

Property owners who have not yet signed contracts for emptying septic tanks or household sewage treatment plants should do so as soon as possible.
