Plants from Krakow's plantations are looking for homes where they will spend the winter. New owners will be able to plant them in their gardens and balconies in spring. The plant distribution event will take place on Wednesday.
The new owners await new owners, among others, dahlias, cannas, begonias, lavender and coleus, which bloomed last season on the Planty and Holy Spirit Square in Krakow.
How to store plants
The City Greenery Management Board (ZZM) announced the campaign and the plan for seasonal discount exchange on Monday. Officials are organizing the action because – as they said – these plants will not survive the winter in open urban spaces.
“We are looking for a new home for them! These are perennial plants that can successfully overwinter, so that next year they can decorate your gardens or balconies” – encourages ZZM.
After flowering, the plants can be trimmed and the tubers and rhizomes can be stored, e.g. in the sand in a cool room where they will not be threatened by frost.
People who want to take plants should bring bags or boxes for them.
