PLN 1,500 and 15 penalty points – this is how the police punished the driver of a city bus who in Zabrze passed another vehicle at a pedestrian crossing and entered a lane closed to traffic. The 51-year-old was in such a hurry that he didn't even pay attention to the woman crossing the crossing.
The incident took place on December 16 last year, but the police have only now issued a statement about it. It shows that the officers punished the driver of a city bus who almost caused a tragedy at a pedestrian crossing.
Recording of a dangerous bus maneuver
The 51-year-old's dangerous maneuver was recorded by a camera placed in the car of another driver, a witness to the event. In the recording recorded at ul. Wolności in Zabrze (Silesian Voivodeship) you can see the car of the recording person stopping in front of a pedestrian crossing where the woman is about to enter.
The driver of city bus number 15 following the vehicle, instead of stopping, decided to avoid the car and, considering the circumstances, drive at high speed on the closed lane, right in front of the pedestrian. A woman crossing the crossing had to slow down to avoid a collision.
The recording was given to the police, who identified the bus driver.

Avoiding at a crossing. High mandate
“The police determined that the driver was a 51-year-old resident of Bytom. The man was fined PLN 1,500 and 15 points were added to his account,” the Silesian police said in a statement.
Michał Wawrzaszek, press spokesman for the Metropolitan Transport Authority, informed us that the operator of line 15 is a consortium of private companies and it is up to their authorities to determine any possible professional consequences for the 51-year-old. We sent questions to representatives of these companies on this matter, but by the time of this article we had not received a response.
