On Thursday (December 8), police officers were called to one of the supermarkets in Zabrze. – According to the information, the security guards caught a man there who had glued a price sticker from a cheaper product to a more expensive one. Earlier, they noticed that the client was behaving suspiciously – reports young asp. Sebastian Bijok from the police in Zabrze. And he adds: – The 40-year-old ripped off the price tag from a cheap bowl and stuck it on a toy drone.
He will be charged with fraud and faces up to eight years in prison
The difference in the price of the products – according to the police – amounted to PLN 165. The 40-year-old was stopped by security guards – before leaving the store – just behind the checkout line. It turned out he was drunk. He had over two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
After sobering up, he was charged with fraud. – Behavior consisting in changing the label on a product in order to buy it at a price cheaper than it actually costs is treated by Polish law as fraud – reminds Bijok. This is punishable by up to eight years in prison. – What is important, it is a crime in every case, regardless of the value of the extorted goods – emphasizes the policeman.
