A 60-year-old man was injured in a shootout at the Volunteer Fire Brigade station in Zadębce (Lubelskie Voivodeship). Police arrested a 34-year-old man who allegedly threatened a group of people with a gun. The investigation is in the direction of attempted murder.

Edyta Krystkowiak from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Hrubieszów reported that officers received a report about the shooting in Zadębce in the Trzeszczany commune on Sunday (June 4) after 8 pm. It was initially established that a group of people met at the building of the Volunteer Fire Brigade. Among the gathered was a 34-year-old man who became more and more aggressive over time and began to harass others.

He pulled out a “weapon-like object” and pointed it at a group of people

– At some point, he pulled out an object that resembled a gun and aimed the barrel at the people who were at the meeting – Krystkowiak said, adding that most people ran away. The gathered – indicated the policewoman – were not entirely convinced whether the object in the man’s hand was a weapon. – There was a fair in a neighboring town and they thought it might be a toy – she added.

– The 34-year-old pointed a gun at the 60-year-old who tried to calm him down and fired shots. He shot him in the ribs and in the right arm, Krystkowiak said.

The police detained a 34-year-old man, he will soon face charges

As the aspirant Krystkowiak reported, the injured 60-year-old was taken to the hospital. The 34-year-old woman was arrested and placed in police custody.

The prosecutor’s office has already launched an investigation into the matter. Initially, the police officer indicated, the investigation is conducted in the direction of attempted murder.

Attempted murder carries a life sentence.
